Today there are more people serving life sentences alone than the entire prison population in 1970, the dawn of the mass incarceration era.

Drawing from his own personal incarceration experience and his work with the Louisiana Parole Project, Andrew Hundley emphasizes the moral and financial impact of sentencing people to life in prison. He also highlights how more resources could be used to instead make more effective public safety and educational investments in our communities.
