In a letter of support, The Sentencing Project’s Executive Director Amy Fettig expressed the importance of the passage of S.1, the For the People Act, including its Democracy Restoration Act provision to restore federal voting rights to the majority of the 5.2 million United States citizens who are disenfranchised because of their felony record.

The Sentencing Project offered expert testimony before Oregon’s House Rules Committee In support of House Bill 2366, a Universal Suffrage Act. HB 2366 repeals the prohibition on voting by individuals convicted of a felony and serving a court–ordered sentence of imprisonment for their conviction.
