Letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Opposing Federal Carjacking Enforcement Act

April 28, 2026

The Sentencing Project joined leading civil rights and criminal justice organizations in urging members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose the Federal Carjacking Enforcement Act.

The Sentencing Project, ACLU, National Urban League, The Leadership Conference for Civil and Human Rights, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc., the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and other civil rights and criminal justice organizations submitted a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee urging members to oppose the Federal Carjacking Enforcement Act (S. 1572).
